However a brilliant tactical ride by Rod Quinn, who picked up the ride for the Surround Stakes after Corey Brown was injured during a trial on Friday, saw $5.50 second favourite Parables become the 2011 Surround Stakes winner after a nail-biting run to the line.

After jumping from barrier seven, Quinn took Parables around the field out wide without cover to hit the lead mid-way down the straight.

In the end Parables held on to defeat Red Tracer ($8) by a short-neck with improving roughie Rose Of Peace ($61) a further length and a half way for third, nudging More Joyous out of the placings.

More Strawberries, ridden by Nash Rawiller who had earlier won a hat-trick at Warwick Farm, ran like she wanted more distance and could only manage to finish fourth nearly two lengths back from the winner.

Waterhouse will continue preparations to run More Strawberries in the Group 1 AJC Australian Oaks (2400m) at Randwick on April 16.
