2012 Surround Stakes Final Field & Barrier Draw

Worth $200,000, the Group 2 Surround Stakes is a 1,400 metre race for three-year-old fillies only.

The 2011 Surround Stakes will jump at 3.42pm (AEDST) in Race 5 at Warwick Farm Racecourse.

One of the nine starting fillies is Gai Waterhouse’s More Strawberries, who finished third last start in the Listed Triscay Stakes.

More Strawberries will jump from barrier three, will be ridden by jockey Nash Rawiller, and will carry the set 56 kilograms in the 2011 Surround Stakes.

Bart Cumming’s Kim Heaven will be competing in her first group level race after winning a Canterbury maiden last start.

James Cummings, Bart Cummings’ grandson and foreman, says that his grandfather feels that Kim Divine is not out of her depth amongst the talented 2011 Surround Stakes field.

“We brought her back and were able to knock off a maiden first-up but there are no really suitable races for her,” he said.

Also in the final field is Peter Snowden’s Parables, who has drawn barrier seven in the 2011 Surround Stakes.

Parables has never finished out of the placings in her eight start career, and has a win percentage of 25%.

Chris Waller’s Red Tracer, David Pfieffer’s Gai’s Choice and John Thompson’s Potions are also part of the final field.
