While the Flemington Racecourse may be holding its prestigious Super Saturday this weekend, in Sydney, the Warwick Farm Racecourse is hosting its illustrious Chipping Norton Stakes Day.
While the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) headlines the day, the Group 2 Surround Stakes (1400m) certainly provides a lot of entertainment, and this Saturday will be no exception.
Some of Australia’s top fillies are nominated for the 2010 Surround Stakes, and will compete at set-weights for a share of the $150,000, with nine nominations.
The Gai Waterhouse-trained More Joyous is certainly one to watch coming into Saturday’s race. The three-year-old filly won the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes (1200m) in February, which is often used as a strong indicator into horse form for the Surround Stakes.

Taking the third spot at the Light Fingers Stakes was Sweepstaking. The Gillian Heinrich-trained filly produced a quality run to beat fellow 2010 Surround Stakes nominee Prerequisite to third spot.
Also taking place at the Warwick Farm Racecourse on Saturday will be the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m), the Group 3 Liverpool City Cup (1300m) and the Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes (1100m).
